Fighting for Christ - A Ministry of Action

I have to say, of all the things I would have never guessed I would be doing, being a part of a ministry is at the top of the list. It simply would not be something that fits with a sinner, a lawyer, a relatively broken man, yet, here I am. I've always tried to be a good person and do my best to follow God's commands but helping to create and lead a ministry? 

To be clear, I'm completely unqualified. I have read the Bible cover to cover a number of times and am extremely familiar with as much as a non-scholar can be familiar with but am not a Biblical scholar. The work I do is always done with intent to do right but I am a lawyer and frequently have to destroy "bad guys" as opposed to evangelizing them. On a personal level I love and do my best to follow God but I'm don't exactly have Christ-like demeanor. Generally speaking - I'm the wrong guy for the job... but...

A number of months ago I was invited by a dear friend, Pastor Bernadette Smith to an event in Detroit. I'm always honored to attend any event Bernadette and her husband Pastor Phil are involved in so I attended at during that event I met my partner in the ministry, Pastor Ibn Ali - nephew of GOAT Muhammad Ali. Ibn is a retired champion boxer himself and truly a man dedicated to God. Ibn was also a pastor hoping to launch a ministry.

After talking with Ibn I decided I wanted to help him but was unsure how. As I said, I certainly did not feel qualified to start a ministry; most days I feel like I need ministered too! So what to do?

While I was thinking about all this life continued and I had reason to call Bernadette on some unrelated issues. During the conversation, as frequently happens, Bernadette was sharing some spiritual advice and something clicked. It occurred to me that a Shepard has two jobs. The first is what we all think of when we think about a pastor or priest - leading the flock to Christ - but the second and far less frequently recognized job of the Shepard is to protect the flock from wolves. While I'm not even close to being a good enough person to take someone to the gates I'm rock solid at fighting wolves and fighting for Christ appealed to me on a very deep and personal level. 

So I went to work. What I found surprised me. Our pastors, priests, etc. all seem to bend over backwards to avoid any sort of confrontation or even to stand for biblical principles in many cases. In many or most instances this seems to be based the idea that standing for anything might lead to loss of the all important tax exemption/other political persecution. 

The surprising thing about the tax exemption and political persecution is that - in many or most cases - the opposite it true. American law provides vast protections for religious freedom and the ability to speak and teach about firmly held religious beliefs is a cornerstone of those protections. Everyone knows about the 1st Amendment but we also have the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, other federal protections, and TONS of state protections. Ultimately, there is an immense amount of protection for church leaders and most of the reticence stemming from fear of political persecution is completely unnecessary. 

In fact, I would go so far as to suggest that a church or ministry is one of the most protected entities in America with regards to their ability to teach and act in accordance with their firmly held religious convictions. During COVID we saw and continue to see the courts recognize that vaccine exemptions based on firmly held religious convictions must be protected, we have seen that individuals in business are able to run their businesses in line with their own firmly held religious convictions and individuals are generally very protected in doing what they believe to be matters of faith. Naturally there are limits to everything but my research led me to the inexorable conclusion that church and ministry leaders are not leveraging the authority they have under our laws to lead and teach the faith.

So I spoke with Ibn and proposed we start a ministry that did some things differently. First, we would focus on the foundation of the Christian faith - bringing people to Christ that do not yet know him. This was important to me because I do not feel I have much to offer a saint but am hopeful that I can provide an introduction to Christ for a sinner... in other words, I'm more comfortable introducing a prostitute or tax collector to Christ than I am trying to debate doctrine (that I rarely care about) with a saint. 

The second thing we would to differently was that we would set ourselves up to actually fight for Christ. A lot of Christian's think that Christianity is a religion of pacifists but Christ himself said there'd be a day when we needed a sword (he also flipped tables and was quite clear about his feelings regarding there being real right and wrong). So instead of apologizing for being Christians, we hope to stand for our brothers and sisters in Christ if and when they are attacked, and, to teach other church leaders to do the same.

Our mission would be to stand against those that would attack the church in the same way Christ did. Peacefully but actively. We will never shut our ministry down because of nonsense like COVID. We will not accept unnatural or unethical vaccines, unjust wars, or exposing our children to things we find against our firmly held religious beliefs and we will stand against these sorts of things. We will also begin to reach out to other churches and help them to understand their ability to do the same (we do not want to take from other ministries or churches but rather to support them in their mission - there's plenty of harvest). In other words, we wanted to launch a ministry that did not simply stand next to Christ, but that fought with him.

To this point we have launched our ministry and are running our Sinner & Saint show on His Glory and our own Rumble channel. We are working on reaching out to other churches and trying to get a basic level of funding so we can expand our work and truly start fighting (it costs money even to fight even if I donate the legal time). 

As things stand I have no idea if I'm doing this well. I really am honored to work with Ibn and to try and bear good fruit. I'm also looking forward to fighting and teaching other leaders to fight. I recognize I'm not necessarily the right guy for this job but God does not call the equipped he equips the called... I'm hoping he does just that for me and that I can contribute to doing good things in Christ's name.

5. CHILDREN ARE SACRED.

6. NO FOOD SHOULD BE CONSUMED THAT HAS BEEN EXPOSED TO UNNATURAL GENE THERAPIES.

7. WAR IS MORALLY WRONG UNLESS IT IS DONE IN SELF DEFENSE OR IN SUPPORT OF GOD’S COMMANDS.

8. VACCINES CREATED INVOLVING ABORTED FETAL CELLS, ANY FOREVER CHEMICALS/MATERIALS OR ANY GENETIC MATERIAL ARE MORALLY WRONG AND SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN.

Our intent is to support our members in each of these - as well as other - critical issues. If there are forced vaccinations in the future, we will stand up. When bad people try and push pornography in schools or other such ideals we will fight back. When freedom is threatened we will speak out. If you support our views please join us.
